Later this year, 343 Industries will be launching its long-awaited shooter Halo Infinite, a game that will feature a revamped esports scene set to return the Halo scene back to its competitive roots.

To mark the launch of Halo Infinite, 343 has revealed that it will be hosting a major event to mark the start of Infinite's esports scene, and that it will be played on LAN (in-person) in North Carolina shortly before Xmas.

Set for December 17-19, the Halo Championship Series Kickoff Major will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina and will even boast a starting prize pool of $250,000. The event will feature an open bracket format and will even have seating for spectators, and will be broadcasted to ensure it receives international support.

343 has also revealed the format for the event, explaining that the top 16 teams from the open bracket will be entered into the pool play, where they will join 16 pre-qualified teams. This will provide the seeding for the 32 team double-elimination championship bracket, where the winner of this bracket will take home the bulk of the $250,000 prize pool.

You can read more on the format and even how to get some tickets for the event here.
