Unity er i forvejen godt i gang med at absorbere IronSource, men pludselig fik de et tilbud fra højre fra giganten AppLovin, der bød hele $17 milliarder for hele virksomheden. Det lovede Unity-ledelsen at de ville overveje, men har nu valgt at afvise tilbudet.
Via VGC har de udgivet en officiel meddelelse, hvor CEO John Riccitiello, I ved ham der kaldte udviklere der ikke tænkte på monetarisering for "fucking idiots", siger følgende:
"The board continues to believe that the IronSource transaction is compelling and will deliver an opportunity to generate long-term value through the creation of a unique end-to-end platform that allows creators to develop, publish, run, monetize, and grow live games and real-time 3D content seamlessly. We remain committed to and enthusiastic about Unity's agreement with ironSource and the substantial benefits it will create for our shareholders and Unity creators."
Grunden til at han hænger sig så meget i IronSource, er at den aftale ville blive aflyst og lukket, skulle de have taget imod Applovins tilbud.
