Activision has recently revealed in a post on Twitter that the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2020 has been called off for this year. The decision comes due to concerns regarding health and safety of the players and staff running the event, considering it was planned to be a live event.

The post on Twitter reads; "We've had to make a difficult decision, but we are putting the health and well-being of our players first regarding the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2020. Out of an abundance of caution, the Stage 5: Grand Finals of the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2020 will not take place."

To accommodate for the change, the post also details how the prize pool will now be split. "As a result of the Stage 5: Grand Finals cancellation, the remaining prize pool will be distributed evenly across the Stage 4: Regional Playoff Champions."

To round-out the post, Activision does also state that they will be revealing their plans for the future of Call of Duty: Mobile esports, so whilst this is a disappointing development, there is at least a silver lining.
