Assassin's Creed Shadows-udvikler udtaler sig nu om den opgraderede grafikmotor.

I lang tid kørte Assassin's Creed-serien i den samme centrale grafikmotor, som har fået navnet "Anvil", men selvom at denne grafikmotor fortsat hedder det samme, så har den gennemgået et gigantisk visuelt og funktionelt ansigtsløft i forbindelse med udviklingen af Assassin's Creed Shadows.

I et interview med GamesIndustry fortæller Lead Producer Karl Onnée, at det gav mening at afsøge disse tekniske opgraderinger, fordi den japanske setting har været så vigtig for teamet bag:

"It is something we have always wanted to do, but we wanted to find the right time. And I'm sure the other teams would have liked to do it, too. We had the opportunity because we had done Assassin's Creed Odyssey [set in Greece], so we had the experience. But it also felt like the right moment, because we have the power in terms of the hardware, but also our new version of the engine, so we could really deliver our vision. It was important for us to have things like light and shadows, which is very performance hungry. And things like dynamic weathers."

Shadows leverer netop mere dynamisk lyssætning, vejrforhold og sågar sæsoner der kommer og går som spillet skrider frem.
