Dying Light gik hen og blev en massiv succes, og det var blandt andet takket være spillets fokus på parkour og bevægelse, bevægelse som senere i spillet blev udbygget via introduktionen af en gribekrog, eller Grappling Hook, som gjorde at man endnu hurtigere kunne komme fremad. Den gribekrog vender tilbage i Dying Light 2, men denne gang har udviklingsholdet arbejdet hårdere på at integrationen af den stemmer overens med fysikkens love.
I et interview med VG247 fortæller Senior Game Designer Bartosz Kulon, at gribekrogen er bundet af Dying Light 2's fysiske omgivelser. Faktisk sammenligner han det lidt med Spider-Man på PS4.
"It's more physics-based. Like a Tarzan or Spider-Man thing. It won't be abused because you have to have something above you to swing from. It was our first attempt, and I made a lot of mistakes doing that. In Dying Light 2 it's way better optimised, more precise, and actually a bit more complicated, but it helps us in different ways we couldn't achieve in the first game. When I played a lot of Dying Light 1, I felt that the bounciness of the character was something that wasn't that realistic. I spent 6,000 hours in Dying Light, so I see a lot of things that normal people don't see."
