Microsoft møder allerede juridisk modstand i både USA og England i forhold til deres planlagte køb af Activision Blizzard, og nu lader det til at også EU kommer til at gøre det sværere for handlen at gå igennem.
Politico kan slå fast, at EU har udsendt en "officiel advarsel" til Microsoft, som ikke er helt det samme som at de direkte opponerer imod aftalen, men at der skal arbejdes yderligere på begrænsninger eller kompromisser.
"The move comes after the EU launched an in-depth investigation into the deal in November, finding that Microsoft may in the future be incentivized to block access to Activision's popular "Call of Duty" franchise. Such foreclosure strategies could reduce competition in the markets for the distribution of console and PC video games, leading to higher prices, lower quality and less innovation for console game distributors, which may, in turn, be passed on to consumers," siger EU i en meddelelse.
Microsoft har responderet, og slår fast at de ønsker at samarbejde med EU om et fælles grundlag:
"We are listening carefully to the European Commission's concerns and are confident we can address them."
