Fnatic and New York Tech have partnered to pioneer esports research

The pair will study how compression sleeves affect professional gamers.

The London-based esports organisation Fnatic has announced that it has partnered with the New York Institute of Technology (New York Tech) to study how upper and lower body compression sleeves affect the performance of professional gamers in the long-run.

Set to be a six month partnership that will see Fnatic's High Performance Unit working with New York Tech, the research will document and present findings on whether wearing compression gear actually improves the recovery rates and extends the length of an esports professionals career.

"At Fnatic, we're dedicated to pushing the boundaries of esports performance to make marginal gains in the gaming arena," said Jens Hofer, director of Fnatic's High Performance Unit. "One way in which we are looking to improve performance is by conducting relevant research that can then be used to inform our decision making. This particular collaboration with New York Institute of Technology, a university that is pioneering esports and gaming related research, will help us better understand the benefits of compression sleeves and in turn, use these insights to inform how to use the technology and develop our own products in the future."
