I går løftede Valve langt om længe sløret for Steam Deck, en Switch-inspireret håndholdt spillemaskine, der ankommer til december. Der er tre separate udgaver af konsollen, hvor den primære forskel er typen og størrelsen på harddisken. Den starter dog helt nede på €419, og det kalder Valce CEO en "smertefuld men nødvendig beslutning".
I et interview med IGN siger Newell følgende:
"I want to pick this up and say, oh, it all works. It's all fast. It's all... and then price point was secondary and painful. But that was pretty clearly a critical aspect to it. But the first thing was the performance and the experience, [that] was the biggest and most fundamental constraint that was driving this."
Desuden tilføjer Hardware Director hos Valve, Sheyra Liu følgende om prisen:
"We knew that the price point was very important, so [...] from the beginning, we designed with that in mind, and we worked very, very hard to achieve the price point that we're at."
