Helgason: "Unity er ret fed"

I et videointerview taler vi med founderen af Unity Technologies David Helgason. Han har været med til at udvikle Unity, den meget populære spilmotor der bruges i en række forskellige 3D- og 2D-spil som Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Endless Legend og Temple Run.

Vi taler med Helgason om alt, der har med firmaet af gøre. Der sker nemlig meget for dem. De har netop fejret deres 10 års jubilæum, samt at deres seneste 5.1.1 version er blevet lanceret. Samtalen kommer vidt omkring og berører blandt andet emner som support af indie-spil, fleksibilitet med genrer og platforme, Virtual Reality, Occulus/Morpheus support, store og små spil og "Golden age of gaming".

"Unity is pretty awesome. It wasn't always awesome but now it is. It was always very easy to use, it was always very affordable (now it's basically free for anyone who doesn't have money or are starting out), it's a very flexible engine so it doesn't dictate what type of game you make with it (there's first person shooters, there's RTS, there's card games, there's 2D casual games, there's sandbox games)... basically every genre of game that you can imagine is now on Unity. And that's nice for developers, because when they pick the toolset, it doesn't constrain them too much".
