WEBVTT 00:01.000 --> 00:07.000 Hello! We're live at Gamescom. I'm here with Rudy and Julio of Outright Games. 00:07.000 --> 00:11.000 We've just played Jumanji and Transformers. I have to say I enjoyed both of them. 00:11.000 --> 00:13.000 Very much so. 00:13.000 --> 00:16.000 At Outright, you guys are known for creating family-friendly games, 00:16.000 --> 00:20.000 really lots of fun games for kids and also just to get together as a family to play. 00:20.000 --> 00:22.000 But they're not necessarily simple games. 00:22.000 --> 00:25.000 You know, people, when they hear family-friendly, they might sort of switch off. 00:25.000 --> 00:28.000 But what do you guys add for accessibility for families? 00:28.000 --> 00:32.000 And also, what would you say to sort of people maybe switching off at the idea of family-friendly, 00:32.000 --> 00:36.000 maybe someone who just plays games solo and wants to sort of get a new experience? 00:36.000 --> 00:40.000 Yeah, so the thing is that we are aiming always at games for kids, 00:40.000 --> 00:45.000 so we try to make the controls simple and accessible so it's easy to control. 00:45.000 --> 00:50.000 So the idea is not that it's just easy as a game, because there is challenge always, 00:50.000 --> 00:55.000 but that you can get into the challenge easily with easy-to-play things, 00:55.000 --> 01:02.000 so not complicated controls like, you know, jump and attack for action titles and so on. 01:02.000 --> 01:06.000 But yeah, the thing is that we want anyone to be able to play the games 01:06.000 --> 01:08.000 and anyone to be able to get into the games. 01:08.000 --> 01:13.000 And it's not also kids, because we work with nice IPs and franchises, 01:13.000 --> 01:18.000 so we want fans, long-time fans and casual gamers who are also fans of these franchises 01:18.000 --> 01:24.000 to be able to play and to be able to get them without having to be like hardcore gamers, you know, 01:24.000 --> 01:29.000 because sometimes they have this big entry barrier to the games and we don't want that. 01:29.000 --> 01:33.000 We don't want everyone to be able to play anything. 01:33.000 --> 01:39.000 Yeah, just working off of what Julio said, we make all the experiences really gratifying, 01:39.000 --> 01:42.000 I think is the really important part. 01:42.000 --> 01:49.000 The most important is fun, so in really engaging with these brands, engaging with the stories, 01:49.000 --> 01:53.000 we have great partners, it's about, you know, having people, 01:53.000 --> 01:56.000 being able to share the experience with people that aren't necessarily gamers. 01:56.000 --> 02:03.000 So while it may be sort of simple in the sense that it's simple to enter, it's not easy. 02:03.000 --> 02:08.000 And speaking on that entry point, I just want to sort of focus on Jumanji really quickly. 02:08.000 --> 02:12.000 Jumanji is based off the sort of film, we're seeing the film characters, 02:12.000 --> 02:16.000 you can pick and play from the sort of characters in both of the movies. 02:16.000 --> 02:19.000 Do people necessarily need to have seen the movies to get involved 02:19.000 --> 02:23.000 or is it just sort of pick up and play as we can go? 02:23.000 --> 02:25.000 Yeah, you don't really need to see the films. 02:25.000 --> 02:30.000 I think the good part is we do engage with the characters, we add their personality in, 02:30.000 --> 02:36.000 but Jumanji is such a great franchise and it's like, you know, you get sucked into the Jumanji game. 02:36.000 --> 02:40.000 That's the core, you get sucked into the game, that's applicable to anything. 02:40.000 --> 02:43.000 And then we add the characters for the personality. 02:43.000 --> 02:48.000 So it's just about having fun, getting sucked into the adventure and avoiding the traps. 02:48.000 --> 02:51.000 And speaking of the characters, there are four different playable characters, 02:51.000 --> 02:56.000 each with their own sort of unique moveset and unique sort of costumes that you can add as well. 02:56.000 --> 03:00.000 There's also a lot of other replayability elements in Jumanji, sort of plenty of secrets. 03:00.000 --> 03:02.000 Could you talk a bit more about those? 03:02.000 --> 03:07.000 Sure, I think there's various levels of replayability sort of baked into the core design. 03:07.000 --> 03:13.000 So the first is that there are, when you start up the game, there will be different bosses 03:13.000 --> 03:16.000 and that sort of control what is the endgame. 03:16.000 --> 03:21.000 So they sort of steal this gem, which is what you need to escape the Jumanji game, 03:21.000 --> 03:24.000 but that's randomized every time you start the game. 03:24.000 --> 03:30.000 So you'll have to play through different levels and maybe in level, in World 3, you'll complete the game, 03:30.000 --> 03:32.000 but in another playthrough it could be World 4. 03:32.000 --> 03:34.000 So there's that. 03:34.000 --> 03:40.000 Plus there's just a ton of unlockables in terms of skins, upgradeable abilities, all sorts of things. 03:40.000 --> 03:44.000 So you'll want to keep playing through just to sort of customize and have a good time. 03:44.000 --> 03:47.000 So when I was playing through, I found the levels were quite extensive. 03:47.000 --> 03:50.000 You've got a lot to do and there's also a lot of secrets to pull through as well. 03:50.000 --> 03:54.000 How long would you say it takes to beat on average for like a party of four maybe? 03:54.000 --> 03:56.000 Ooh, I think that's going to be quite difficult. 03:56.000 --> 04:03.000 Yeah, I don't know, but I think if you want to really get like 100% of the game, 04:03.000 --> 04:06.000 it can take up to six, eight hours maybe. 04:06.000 --> 04:07.000 Yeah, something like that. 04:07.000 --> 04:13.000 But again, it sort of plays into that element of you don't know where the gem is. 04:13.000 --> 04:18.000 So theoretically, it could be like three or four hours, but you want to explore the rest of the levels. 04:18.000 --> 04:20.000 You'd be skipping out on some of the content. 04:20.000 --> 04:24.000 And moving on to Transformers, as we talk about villains and we talk about bosses, 04:24.000 --> 04:27.000 this time in Transformers we're facing up against Mandroid, 04:27.000 --> 04:33.000 who has sort of taken over Dominions and this leads to an open world sort of structure of the game. 04:33.000 --> 04:36.000 How is this going to be sort of maybe challenging, a bit overwhelming, 04:36.000 --> 04:41.000 or is it sort of, you know, does it take it as its own pace as you sort of go through the game? 04:41.000 --> 04:42.000 Is it sort of simple to understand? 04:42.000 --> 04:46.000 Yeah, because Transformers is kind of an open world game, 04:46.000 --> 04:48.000 but it's divided into three different sectors. 04:48.000 --> 04:52.000 So the difficulty goes up from the beginning. 04:52.000 --> 04:56.000 So it starts really simple and really easy for the kids and then it goes harder and harder. 04:56.000 --> 05:00.000 But you can unlock a lot of abilities, unlock a lot of powers and so on. 05:00.000 --> 05:02.000 So you can play at your own pace, actually. 05:02.000 --> 05:07.000 So if you find something really difficult, you can go out and you can go back later and so on. 05:07.000 --> 05:10.000 And also the most difficult challenges are always optional. 05:10.000 --> 05:14.000 So you don't really need to play the hardest parts of the game. 05:14.000 --> 05:21.000 You can just go easy on the story side and you can finish the game on your own and on your own time. 05:21.000 --> 05:23.000 And just a quick question as well. 05:23.000 --> 05:26.000 There is a lot of depth, though, to this game, the combat especially. 05:26.000 --> 05:28.000 There's a lot of abilities to unlock. 05:28.000 --> 05:30.000 There's a lot of things for you to sort of do. 05:30.000 --> 05:32.000 I was beaten by the game. 05:32.000 --> 05:34.000 It's not necessarily a simple, easy game, you know. 05:34.000 --> 05:37.000 So could you talk a bit more about the depth of the combat 05:37.000 --> 05:39.000 and what you've put into it to make it sort of stand out? 05:39.000 --> 05:42.000 Yeah, so the controls are accessible. 05:42.000 --> 05:48.000 So it's only just one punch button, one kick button, and then one dodge button, and that's all. 05:48.000 --> 05:53.000 But the thing is that you can combo between them and you can unlock a lot of different abilities. 05:53.000 --> 05:58.000 For example, at the beginning you only have the triple punch combo and triple kick combo, 05:58.000 --> 05:59.000 and they are easy to do. 05:59.000 --> 06:03.000 You have a special kick attack that launches enemies into the air. 06:03.000 --> 06:05.000 Another one that smashes them down. 06:05.000 --> 06:08.000 So just with that, you can finish the game, actually. 06:08.000 --> 06:12.000 The thing is that you can unlock more combos and you can start doing really interesting things. 06:12.000 --> 06:16.000 Like, for example, if you dodge at the perfect time, you get a slow-mo mode 06:16.000 --> 06:19.000 and then you can go around the enemies and punch all of them at once. 06:19.000 --> 06:21.000 And it's really, really fun to do. 06:21.000 --> 06:23.000 There is also a lot of different special attacks 06:23.000 --> 06:29.000 where you just charge your beam into a really big beam or a special punch. 06:29.000 --> 06:32.000 And then there is combos that you can unlock as well. 06:32.000 --> 06:35.000 And it's, for example, punch, kick, punch in an easy motion. 06:35.000 --> 06:39.000 And then you turn into a car, which is something great for a Transformer, 06:39.000 --> 06:42.000 and just smash into enemies or fall into them. 06:42.000 --> 06:43.000 So it's really, really fun. 06:43.000 --> 06:45.000 And it's really easy to do. 06:45.000 --> 06:48.000 You can unlock any of the combos you like. 06:48.000 --> 06:51.000 You just have to get the currencies for that. 06:51.000 --> 06:54.000 But it's really easy to get them into your own play style 06:54.000 --> 06:56.000 and just choose how you want to play. 06:56.000 --> 06:58.000 Something I thought was interesting was that it's on Unreal Engine 5. 06:58.000 --> 07:00.000 It's being built on Unreal Engine 5, and you can see it in the graphics. 07:00.000 --> 07:02.000 But we're also bringing it to Switch. 07:02.000 --> 07:04.000 There's a lot of, maybe, graphical fidelity. 07:04.000 --> 07:06.000 Would you like to talk a bit more? 07:06.000 --> 07:10.000 The thing is that we wanted to have the game the most similar to the TV show 07:10.000 --> 07:12.000 because that's what we want and what the fans want. 07:12.000 --> 07:15.000 They want to see Bumblebee, the Bumblebee from Earthspark, 07:15.000 --> 07:17.000 and recognize him on the screen. 07:17.000 --> 07:20.000 So even though it's Unreal 5 and it's really powerful and so on, 07:20.000 --> 07:26.000 we always went for this TV-like appearance of the graphics and so on. 07:26.000 --> 07:29.000 And I will say that, yes, it was difficult to bring to Switch, 07:29.000 --> 07:32.000 but it's running quite perfectly there. 07:32.000 --> 07:33.000 So it's great. 07:33.000 --> 07:35.000 Perfect. I think that's all about what we've got time for. 07:35.000 --> 07:37.000 Thank you very much for joining me. 07:37.000 --> 07:39.000 When can we see Transformers Earthspark Expedition? 07:39.000 --> 07:40.000 When can we see Jumanji? 07:40.000 --> 07:42.000 And what platforms will they be on? 07:42.000 --> 07:46.000 So Transformers, I think the launch date is already released. 07:46.000 --> 07:48.000 I mean, it's announced. 07:48.000 --> 07:50.000 It's on October 13th. 07:50.000 --> 07:51.000 Yes. 07:51.000 --> 07:54.000 But for Jumanji, I don't know. 07:54.000 --> 07:56.000 I'm not sure if I can give the date yet. 07:56.000 --> 07:58.000 That's perfectly fine. 07:58.000 --> 08:01.000 And both of them will release on all consoles. 08:01.000 --> 08:08.000 So it's PS4, PS5, all Xboxes, Switch, PC, Steam, and I think that's all. 08:09.000 --> 08:11.000 Perfect. Thanks for your time. 08:11.000 --> 08:12.000 Have a great Gamescom. 08:12.000 --> 08:14.000 Oh, sorry. Fist bump. 08:14.000 --> 08:15.000 Fist bump.
