Misfits has announced that it will be exiting the League of Legends European Championship, as the esports organisation has revealed that it has sold its slot in the LEC to Team Heretics. As mentioned in a press release, this move is part of the Misfits Gaming Group's (MGG) move to invest in more creators alongside esports, with the deal seeing Misfits remaining a minority stakeholder in the LEC team.

"It's bittersweet to know that our mission to diversify means that we cannot be in all places at once and we're sad to say so long to the loving camaraderie and competitiveness of the LEC," said co-founder and CEO of Misfits Gaming Group, Ben Spoont. "But we did not make this decision lightly and ran an exhaustive process vetting numerous interested offer parties and came to the decision that Team Heretics was the right selection to continue on as responsible stewards of the League."

The deal will kick into effect in the next LEC season (2023), and as for what MGG is planning on investing in now that the exit from the LEC is in place, the organisation has plans to emphasise "partnering with top creators from the gaming and streaming community and working with them to build projects they're passionate about," such as the Minecraft Server in the works from content creator, Tubbo.
