We've heard a whole bunch of different rumours and stories about what the next season of the Overwatch League will look like, but as we near the 2021 Playoffs, vice-president Jon Spector has given us a glimpse into what is planned.

Speaking over Twitter, Spector revealed that the 2022 season is planned to begin in April, and that it will in fact be played on an early build of Overwatch 2.

"I've seen a lot of speculation regarding a 2022 start date for OWL," said Spector. "We can confirm that our plan is to begin next season in April 2022. We will share more details about 2022 roster construction timelines soon and more info generally on our 2022 season as we get closer to April."

Spector confirmed the Overwatch 2 plans shortly after by commenting on a tweet about the matter saying, "Oh yeah also this".

The 2021 Playoffs are set to begin later this September, you can find more information on the teams that have qualified and the current scheduled matches over here.
