Om man kan lide det eller ej, så vil spilbranchen blive forandre af Microsofts køb af Activision Blizzard, og vi har nok ikke endnu set det fulde omfang af hvad det her betyder. Nogle er særligt bekymrede for Sony, som endnu ikke har afsløret noget modsvar, men spørger du Gearbox-chefen Randy Pitchford, så skal man ikke bekymre sig for meget om deres konkurrenceevne, for i virkeligheden er de to slet ikke konkurrenter.
I en besked på Twitter forklarer Kotick, at Sony hverken bør bekymre sig, og at de måske også skulle tillade software som Game Pass at køre på deres konsol:
"How long is it going to take before Sony, remembering that it is a consumer electronics company, can be happy with Microsoft, which is a software company, having Microsoft software running as third party apps on Sony's hardware? In my mind, they have never been competitors."
"I think Sony is aware that Xbox wants to be a gaming OS, essentially, and Sony is protective of itself there (for good reason). There's opportunity for both to be allies in the middle ground, however. Wild to watch. I adore Sony and adore Xbox, so..."
