Nintendo gik først i manegen som en af spilbranchens tre konsolplatformindehavere, og stoppede al salg via eShop, samt forsendelser af Switch-konsoller og fysiske spil til landet, og Microsoft fulgte efter ret hurtigt.
Det tog lidt længere tid for Sony, men nu har også de valgt at sende et klart signal til den russiske regering om at de modsætter sig den igangværende invasion af Ukraine, så derfor er al PlayStation-salg ligeledes stoppet. Via en besked på Twitter fremgår der følgende:
"Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) joins the global community in calling for peace in Ukraine. We have suspended all software and hardware shipments, the launch of Gran Turismo 7, and operations of the PlayStation Store in Russia. To support humanitarian aid, Sony Group Corporation announced a US$2 million donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the international NGO, Save the Children, to support the victims of this tragedy."
Sony slutter sig til en lang liste af virksomheder, der har valgt at signalere klart og tydeligt hvad de synes om den russiske invasion.
