Skulle du ikke have set det døjer verden lige nu med en række omstændigheder, der gør det sværere at producere blandt andet forbrugerelektronik. Både komponentmangel og særligt inflation har gjort profitmarginalerne strammere, og som respons hæver Sony nu officielt prisen på PlayStation 5-konsollen.
Via PlayStation Blog fremgår det at prisen hæves som respons på det nuværende økonomiske klima:
"The global economic environment is a challenge that many of you around the world are no doubt experiencing. We're seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries. Based on these challenging economic conditions, SIE has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of PlayStation 5 in select markets across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM), as well as Canada. There will be no price increase in the United States."
Vi har rakt ud til PlayStation i Danmark for at få bekræftet de nye priser, men har i skrivende stund ikke hørt tilbage. Det lader til at være cirka €49,99 prisen forøges med på både versionen med diskdrev og uden, så priserne er nu således:
