Instruktør og manuskriptforfatter Rian Johnson har lavet en af de mere kontroversielle storfilm i nyere tid, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, og den endte med at blive mødt med så massiv kritik, at Disney tilsyneladende har skrinlagt en hel trilogi der skulle komme fra netop ham.
Men det lader ikke til at påvirke ham, og spørger man ham i dag, så er han faktisk mere stolt af filmen end han var dengang. I et interview med Empire fortæller Johnson, at han er glad for at han tog en kreativ risiko:
"I think it's impossible for any of us to approach Star Wars without thinking about it as a myth that we were raised with, and how that myth, that story, baked itself into us and affected us. The ultimate intent was not to strip away - the intent was to get to the basic, fundamental power of myth. And ultimately, I hope the film is an affirmation of the power of the myth of Star Wars in our lives."
