Engelske CMA har valgt at blokere Microsofts planlagte køb af Activision Blizzard i England, og det er nu straks blevet sværere for handlen at gå igennem. Så hvad sker der egentlig hvis Microsoft vælger helt at droppe planen? Ja, så skal de altså punge ud.
Vi har vidst i noget tid at Microsoft skulle betale hvis handlen ikke går igennem, men via CNBC afslører Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, at det er cirka $3 milliarder Microsoft skal af med, og de skal gå til Activision Blizzard.
"Well, I think our first focus is trying to get the deal done, which I think is in the interest of the industry, [and] of competition. If it weren't to get done, you know, by the end of the year, I think we'll be sitting on something like $18 billion of cash. And, I think if you look at our 30-year history, we have deployed capital for the benefit of our shareholders very well and we'll continue to do that."
Hvordan det kommer til at gå handlen i sidste ende er lige nu et af branchens helt store spørgsmål, men Microsofts appel kan tage mindst et par måneder.
