Sony lancerede PlayStation VR2 i februar måned, og selvom at det fik masser af flotte ord med på vejen fra diverse medier, så lader det ikke til at have ræsonneret med nok forbrugere til at sælge som Sony havde håbet.
Dog lader det til at nogle hackere har besluttet sig for at få mere ud af headsettet ved at omgås den såkaldte "hardware lock", eller mere specifikt den "hardware authentication", der forhindrer PSVR2 i at fungere på eksempelvis en PC.

Naturligvis er dette ikke meningen, og ulovligt også, men som WCCFTech skriver kan det lægge pres på Sony om at gøre PSVR2 kompatibel med en anden platform som PC:
"The brass tacks of the situation are that hardware compatibility is possible but will take quite some time to figure out and work accordingly. None of this would stop Sony from suddenly releasing a driver that makes the new PSVR2 work retroactively with VR titles outside the PS5 natively. So, it's a matter of waiting until we see which one comes first, official support or support brought by hardware enthusiasts willing to jump a wide variety of hurdles."
