Vi vidste at det ville ske her indenfor de næste par dage, og selvom at Microsoft mødte megen modstand i løbet af de sidste 20 måneders tid, så har de nydt godt af den ene retslige sejr efter den anden på det seneste. Og nu er det, for nu om ikke andet, slut.
The Verge kan afsløre, takket være en besked på Twitter fra engelske CMA, at handlen er endegyldigt godkendt i England, og dermed har Microsoft nu frie hænder til at færdiggøre handlen, som forventes at ske indenfor meget kort tid.
"The CMA has decided to give Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) consent to acquire Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Activision) (the Parties) excluding Activision's cloud streaming rights outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) (the Merger) subject to the condition that the sale of Activision's cloud streaming rights completes prior to completion of the Merger," siger CMA.
Det lader til at CMA hænger sig meget i det faktum at Microsoft blandt andet har solgt streamingrettigheder til Ubisoft for at indhente en godkendelse, og de siger følgende:
"With the sale of Activision's cloud streaming rights to Ubisoft, we've made sure Microsoft can't have a stranglehold over this important and rapidly developing market," says Sarah Cardell, CEO of the CMA. "As cloud gaming grows, this intervention will ensure people get more competitive prices, better services and more choice. We are the only competition agency globally to have delivered this outcome."
