Nintendo of America har sagsøgt Tropic Haze LLC, skaberne af den populære Switch emulator Yuzu, som gør det muligt at spille Switch spil på Windows, Linux og Android systemer.
Nintendo siger, at sidste års største Switch udgivelse, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, var "pirated over 1 million times" i ugerne op til spillets udgivelse i maj sidste år.
With Yuzu in hand, nothing stops a user from obtaining and playing unlawful copies of virtually any game made for the Nintendo Switch, all without paying a dime to Nintendo or to any of the hundreds of other game developers and publishers making and selling games for the Nintendo Switch. In effect, Yuzu turns general computing devices into tools for massive intellectual property infringement of Nintendo and others' copyrighted works.
Nintendo søger erstatning for tabt indtjening og for en nedlukning af emulatoren. Det bliver interessant at se hvor den her ender, for mange spekulerer i, at emulatoren i sig selv ikke er ulovlig, da den ikke indeholder de såkaldte "prod.keys" taget fra Switch hardwaren.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom blev sidste års bedst sælgende spil med over 20 millioner solgte eksemplarer, kun overgået af Hogwarts Legacy.
