For ganske nylig rapporterede vi, at Activision ønskede at lave en Call of Duty-film, og at Paramount angiveligt forsøgte at sikre sig rettighederne. Nu kan vi bekræfte at det faktisk bliver en realitet.
I en pressemeddelelse bekræftes det at Activision og Paramount har indgået en aftale der vil bringe projektet til live. Det ser dog stadig ud til at være på et meget tidligt stadie, da der endnu ikke er offentliggjort nogen detaljer om plot, casting eller premiere. Hvad vi ved er, at filmen bliver en live-action-udgivelse, og at den vil være "designet til at begejstre sin massive globale fanbase ved at levere på kendetegnene for, hvad fans elsker ved den ikoniske serie, samtidig med at den dristigt udvider franchisen til helt nye publikummer."
I forbindelse med annonceringen udtalte Activisions præsident, Rob Kostich:
"With Paramount, we have found a fantastic partner who we will work with to take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment. The film will honour and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started. Our shared goal is quite simple — to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves, and one that also excites and inspires new fans of the franchise."
Som forventet har Paramounts administrerende direktør og bestyrelsesformand, David Ellison, også kommenteret projektet og tilføjet:

Det er endnu uklart, hvilken æra Call of Duty-filmen vil udspille sig i, eller hvilken (hvis nogen) spilserie den baserer sig på. Når det er sagt - hvad ville du helst se: en Black Ops, Modern Warfare, World War eller Advanced Warfare film?
