Her på Gamereactor hersker der ingen tvivl omkring kvaliteten af storsuccesen fra 2013 The Last of Us, men udviklerne hos Naughty Dog var åbenbart ikke så sikre i deres sag, da de var i gang med at producere spillet. I det seneste afsnit af Will Wheatons Conversations With Creators, er Naughty Dogs Bruce Straley, Neil Druckman, Anthony Newman og Evan Well gæster, og de kommer med nogle ganske overraskende informationer omkring udviklingsfasen for det prisbelønnede spil.
Gameplay director Bruce Straley sagde: "We thought it was going to tank[...] We thought we were going to ruin the name and image [of Naughty Dog] that's been so heartily built for years with blood, sweat, and tears. We thought we were ruining Naughty Dog's image", and the game's writer Druckmann follows up with commenting "The joke we would say throughout production was that this game is the downfall of Naughty Dog".
Lead designer Anthony Newman påstod, at det var nogle heldige beslutninger, der førte den store succes: "It wasn't coming together. So it was really a a set of really lucky breaks in terms of gameplay decisions we made that really made everything fall into place and turned it into a fun game."
Det er altså ikke kun os dødelige gamere, der kan føle tvivl om det vi laver, men også nogle af de største spildesignere indenfor industrien.
