Som vi kunne fortælle i sidste uge, så springer Assassin's Creed-serien 2016 over, og det næste rigtige kapitel i serien udkommer i stedet til næste år.
Bevæggrunden bag beslutningen var, at Ubisoft ønskede at "udvikle spillets mekanikker", og puste nyt liv i serien.
Under en samtale med diverse investorer, sagde Ubisoft-chefen Yves Guillemot, at serien ikke nødvendigvis vil vende tilbage til årlige udgivelse efter seriens comeback næste år.
"The goal is not automatically to come back on annual cycle but to come on a regular basis. We saw it was time to give it lots of time so [developers] could really work on the property and all the mechanics to make sure we could take [the series] to another level."
Så tilføjede han: "What we are seeing today is promising. We will be able to come on a regular basis, [but] we can't say every year."
Udgiveren bekræftede også, at det næste kapitel i serien ikke vil foregå i Spanien, hvor den kommende Assassin's Creed-film med Michael Fassbender i hovedrollen foregår.
"The next Assassin's Creed won't be about the Inquisition. That doesn't mean there will never be an Assassin's Creed about the Inquisition, but we do feel it was wiser to give the creative freedom on the movie, so therefore there is not a great immediate tie-in between movie and games."
