Beta-tests er ikke hvad de har været. Eller, betydningen for ordet "beta" er blevet ændret en smule, til det punkt hvor det mistet sin mening. Det lader til at være holdningen for Rod Fergusson, som er studiechef for Gears of War 4-udvikleren The Coalition.
Via et interview med MCV snakker han lidt om, hvordan forbrugere har en helt forkert ide om, hvad en beta er.
"The industry has taken the word beta and twisted it to mean 'pre-release demo. The community thinks they should be a highly polished demo. We are really focused on saying we're pre-alpha right now. I even joked that we should call our beta an alpha just so people understand where we are and that we are actually looking for feedback and we're actually testing systems."
Multiplayer-delen af Gears of War 4 er lige nu i beta, og åbner op for alle spillere på mandag.
