Lige nu er en retsag i fuld sving, der involverer Bethesda-ejerne Zenimax og VR-folkene hos Oculus. Zenimax påstår nemlig, at den ikoniske spilskaber John Carmack, der før i tiden blandt andet har stået bag titler som Rage og det originale Doom, og som nu er Chief Technology Officer hos Oculus, faktisk har taget VR-teknologi fra Zenimax og givet det til sit nye firma.
Nu har advokatholdet hos Zenimax udvidet deres søgsmål (som du kan læse på Scribd), og påstår at Carmack faktisk er gået ind på Zenimax-hovedkontoret efter at have forladt firmaet, og direkte stjålet filer og teknologi der blev brugt af Zenimax til at udvikle VR:
"Instead of complying with his contract, during his last days at ZeniMax, [Carmack] copied thousands of documents from a computer at ZeniMax to a USB storage device. He never returned those files or all copies of them after his employment with ZeniMax was terminated,"
"In addition, after Carmack's employment with ZeniMax was terminated, he returned to ZeniMax's premises to take a customized tool for developing VR Technology belonging to ZeniMax that itself is part of ZeniMax's VR technology."
Hverken Oculus eller Carmack har svaret igen på disse anklager, men hvis Zenimax har konkrete beviser for at Carmack har stjålet teknologi fra firmaet, så kan det have store konsekvenser for Carmack og Oculus Rift-headsettet.
