HBO's Westworld fik premiere i sidste uge, og blev mødt med gigantiske seertal og kritisk fanfare. Nu har seriens skabere afsløret via et nyligt panel ved New York Comic Con, at de alle spillede en række spil for at få inspiration til tv-serien.
Jonathan Nolan siger blandt andet:
"We played some as research for making this show, as when (Michael) Crichton first wrote his movie, video games literally didn't exist except for PONG. I'm happy to report my wife is the world's most boring Grand Theft Auto player."
Samtlige skabere roste derefter Grand Theft Auto-serien for at skabe en troværdig verden, og at Westworld er skudt som en form for ekko at det design.
"The way they crafted some of the shots is to mimic a video game."
Derudover afslørede Nolan afslutningsvis, at også Bioshock har spillet en stor rolle:
"[the games are] amongst the most literate and thoughtful pieces of entertainment I've seen in the last ten years."
