"Los Angeles, CA - At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California, Eleven Engineering, Inc., unveiled its patented xiSPIKE™ (SPIKE) system designed to transform the way wireless technology is applied to video game peripherals. Demonstrated for the first time, Eleven's wireless controllers introduce capabilities and features never-before-seen, including the unprecedented ability to use the same wireless controller with different video game platforms. Eleven is unveiling its controllers and highlighting the incredible capability to "hop" from console to console with the press of a button, at a specially-designed E3 exhibit located just inside the concourse hallway, outside the South Hall area of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
"The progression to wireless control has been the standard evolution for nearly all entertainment appliances, but adoption in video game systems has been hindered by the lack of ability to fulfill the intense requirements that a next-generation console and game player demand," said Greg LaBrec, Vice President of Marketing, Eleven Engineering. "We set out to knock down these barriers when we a created a wireless system with the features required to drive the inevitable shift to wireless in game peripherals. SPIKE is a rock-solid platform with unprecedented reliability. It provides unique added value, including multiplayer and cross-platform capabilities that have never been seen in wireless devices."
SPIKE was designed from inception to provide universal compatibility for a single control device with the Sony PlayStation® 2, Microsoft Xbox™, Nintendo GameCube™ and PC/Mac. SPIKE powered controllers connect to consoles via the system's QuadX™ transceiver, automatically linking upon activation using Dynamic Bonding™ and confirming the player's connection with a real-time status BondLite™. Each QuadX allows for the connection of up to four control devices. Eleven's patented Multipoint technology enables up to 16 controllers on four QuadX transceivers operating in close proximity without interference. The SPIKE platform even provides Multiple Brand Support, with QuadX transceivers able to accommodate SPIKE controllers made by different manufacturers.
"The transition of game control devices to wireless is an inevitability that's been dependent on the availability of the right solution," said Don Thomas, Vice President of Sales, Eleven Engineering. "We've developed that solution with SPIKE, and are sending the message that the time for this crucial upgrade in next generation game systems has arrived."
