Vivendi Universal Publishing to set-up direct offices in the Nordic countries for its games division
September 12, 2002 - After successful running joint-operations with Panvision over the last 3 years, Vivendi Universal Games, the games division of Vivendi Universal Publishing, announced today that it will go direct in all 4 Nordic countries and open subsidiaries with the support of Panvision by the beginning of 2003.
"Thanks to an excellent partnership with Panvision, along with a growing portfolio of powerful multi-platform franchises, we have been able to find the right approach to the Nordic markets while developing constantly and successfully. So Nordic had to be our next target in our expansion plans" said Christophe Ramboz, President & COO of Vivendi Universal Games.
"Nordic countries have been playing an increasingly important role in our overall Northern strategy (formed of UK, Germany and Eastern countries). The huge success of Warcraft 3 was the signal that we were ready for a direct Nordic set-up, and so was the market". Added Stefan Nussbaum, VP of Sales in Northern Europe.
"Our sales and marketing team are already in place in each country. We took over the people from Panvision who used to work on VUG titles, so the names won't change, but they are now 100% dedicated to VUG. We are starting up with a combination of experienced and talented people and very powerful Xmas line-up. So our future looks very promising and fun!" said Julie Chalmette, General Manager for VUG Nordic.
"Our forthcoming releases include powerful franchises such as The Thing, Lord of the Rings, Spyro, Crash, No One Lives Forever 2 and many others. Most of them will benefit from TV advertising, and we are building-up strong local marketing plans to support the franchises in Sweden" said Hjalmar Hedman, marketing manager for VUG Sweden.
"Our intention is to develop a close and direct relationship to the retail and end-consumer market by having a reinforced presence, sales and marketing wise. However, we will keep on working with Panvision: while VUG Nordic will concentrate first and foremost on the biggest accounts, Panvision will help us cover the entire Nordic market through its team of field and tele-sales persons. Furthermore we will be working with Panvision on future online projects" commented Thomas Pettersson, sales manager for VUG Sweden.
"We are looking forward to this new collaboration with VUG Nordic" added Peter Levin, Managing Director of Panvision. "VUG portfolio is extremely exciting, and this new agreement also provides an exclusive licence on Kids titles (Knowledge Adventure). We have many new and entertaining edutainment titles in the pipeline and we will soon release the brand new versions of the n°1 educative brand: Kunskap Adventyr."
VUG Nordic will be located in Stockholm and have local operations in Denmark, Norway and Fi
