En ny rapport der stammer fra VPEsports påstår at en ansat hos Hi-Rez Studios, der blandt andet står bag Smite og Realm Royale, er blevet arresteret. Den arresterede ansattes navn er Thomas Cheung, og han blev angiveligvis hentet af politiet under en undercover-operation, hvor han blev arresteret for "børneudnyttelse", samt en række andre sigtelser.
Den samlede operation resulterede i 20 arresteringer, som kan ses i den officielle rapport der er tilgængelig hos Georgia Bureau of Investigation. GBI-bureauet siger at formålet med operationen var følende:
"To arrest persons who communicate with children on-line, have sexually explicit conversations, and then travel to meet them for the purpose of having sex. Additionally, the operation targeted those who are willing to exploit children by purchasing sex with a minor."
Dokumentet nævner ikke Cheung specifikt, men han er blandt de arresterede i forbindelse med operationen.
Rod Breslaur har også efterforsket sagen, og har afsløret via Twitter, at han har fundet ud af at hans specifikke sigtelse, og det lader til at være "arranging to have sex with a child."
Hi-Rez Studios har øjeblikkeligt taget afstand fra Cheung, og har givet følgende svar på anklagerne til Gamereactor:
"As of today, Mr. Cheung is no longer employed by Hi-Rez Studios. As a parent, it is difficult to imagine more disturbing allegations than those laid out in the news reports. We commend the efforts of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and other law enforcement to protect our state's children and to send a strong message that the behavior targeted in their Operation Interception will not be tolerated in Georgia."
