The Last of Us: Part II kunne godt udkomme digitalt i maj alligevel

For nylig traf Naughty Dog beslutningen at udsætte The Last of Us: Part II, der nu ikke ankommer i maj som planlagt, men i stedet er blevet udskudt på ubestemt tid på grund af Coronavirusudbruddet, der rent logistisk gør en global lancering udfordrende. Faktisk har studiet ikke lagt skjul på at det netop er logistikken, og ikke udviklingen, der har fået dem til at træffe den beslutning. Men kunne spillet så i princippet ikke udkomme digitalt på den originale dato?

Se det lader faktisk til at Naughty Dog og Sony er ved at diskutere netop det. Selvom det ikke fremgår i den officielle pressemeddelelse omkring forsinkelsen, så har instruktør Neil Druckmann sagt følgende til dette i et interview hos PlayStation Blogcast:

"There hasn't been a final decision yet. Right now we're just reacting to... it's a different retail chain, whether we could get physical copies to people, is the internet infrastructure there to support all countries... This is a worldwide game that people in every country are waiting for and we want to make sure that we're fair. If we just get [the game] to a small fraction of people, what does it do to all the people who don't get it? We're right now looking at all sorts of different options. What's the best way to get it to all our fans as soon as possible? That's going to take time for things to shift and to figure things out and also see where the world's at: things are changing from day-to-day."

Det lyder altså til at det kunne være en mulighed, men lige nu er det svært at sige.
