Godt nok udkommer Spider-Man: Miles Morales til både PlayStation 4 og PlayStation 5, men med spil som Demon's Souls har Sony bevist at de er villige til at udgive eksklusiver til den nye platform helt fra start af. Dog lader det samtidig til, at de er dedikerede til støtten af PlayStation 4, og sådan forbliver det nogle år frem.
I et interview med GamesIndustry fortæller Sony-chef Jim Ryan, at PlayStation 4-økosystemet understøttes helt frem til udgangen af 2022, og det er "mindst". Desuden siger Ryan, at denne strategi er altafgørende.
"Obviously, our eyes and our horizons have lifted with regards to what's possible with that PS4 community, based on what we've observed over the last six months. That can be quite powerful, because in 2021, 2022... that PS4 community that we've spoken about, they will be the vast majority of people on PlayStations during that time. It is crucial that we keep them engaged and happy. And the last six months have demonstrated that we could do that to an extent that we didn't think possible when we were setting our minds pre-COVID."
Det vides dog ikke om der vil komme flere spil som Demon's Souls, der er PS5-eksklusive, eller om Sony har skiftet mening.
