Vi havde en samtale med udviklerne bag det kommende remake af Resident Evil 2, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi og Tsuyoshi Kanda, hvor vi hørte mere om deres kommende spil, og heriblandt hvad der er nyt.
"We want to try and respect the original game as much as possible while taking the pieces that make it up and reimagining them in a way that lets today's gamers have the same kind of experience that people had when they played the original 20 years ago, so I can't really pick one thing to say" udtalte Hirabayashi. "I have to say that the whole game is a reimagining of the original experience."
"Yeah, the play feel of the original is something that's really important for us to keep in place whilst also, in between the key beats of the original game, we're going to keep things fresh for you so it's both familiar and fresh at the same time" tilføjede Kanda.
Vi spurgte også ind til de berømte/berygtede Tank-controls:
"In terms of controls, Resident Evil 7 was a game that really changed up how the series approached controlling the characters, and I think that went down really well and was really positive, so taking the original game and looking at how to modernise it and reimagine it, we've taken a lot of the positive feedback from the most recent game in the series and put that in place so that modern gamers [can] really enjoy Resident Evil 2,"
"Using the RE Engine - which we've been able to tune up even further since Resident Evil 7 - means that we can use the latest technology available to us to bring the game to you in this new third-person view, and I think combining that with re-thought controls is a really great match for the gameplay experience we're trying to provide to players" svarede Kanda.
Vi kunne selvfølgelig heller ikke lade være med at spørge ind til områderne, og hvorvidt vi kan forvente nye lokationer, der ikke var med i det originale spil:
"Ideally I'd like players to get their hands on it themselves. Whenever they play it they'll be able to experience this, but yeah, in addition to reimagined stages, environments of the iconic RPD, there are layout changes and also new areas to explore, so I'll leave the details for everyone to discoverer by themselves."
"Whilst we're trying to keep the respect for the original storyline like we said, we do want to keep things fresh and surprising as well, so some areas will be familiar to you, some will be familiar but may seem a little bit different, and some will be brand new, so you can look forward to checking those out in the full game."
