Imens både Shawn Layden og i særdeleshed Jim Ryan indtog posten som PlayStation-overhoveder, så var der mange der ellers mente at Shuhei Yoshida både havde talentet, ekspertisen og erfaringen til at komme i betragtning, men han holdt sig altid i baggrunden helt frem til at han for nylig forlod PlayStation efter 30 år.
Så hvordan kan det være? I en roundtable-snak ovre hos Game File, hvor branchefolk kan stille hinanden spørgsmål spurgte Virtuos CEO Gilles Langourieux netop Yoshida om det:
"Probably because they didn't trust me as [to] making the best business decisions... I always wanted to do something interesting, you know, something new or innovative and never done before, that may become the great thing in the future, [that] kind of thing. Look at all the heads of SIE in the past, other than Ken Kutaragi. He was crazy, right? So he did something totally crazy. But after Ken: Kaz [Hirai], Andrew [House], Jim Ryan, all business people, right? So there must be a reason for that."
