Sony viste nogle ganske intense og voldelige PlayStation 4 trailere under deres store Paris Games Week-pressekonference. Både The Last of Us: Part II og Detroit: Become Human blev fremvist med meget grafiske scener, hvor der indgik skildringer af vold mod både børn og kvinder. Begge videoer gik hen og blev kontroversielle, og trak megen kritik. Nogen mente sågar at Sony benytter ekstrem vold til at sælge spil.
Jim Ryan, præsident for Sony Interactive Entertainment i Europa, har reageret på denne kritik i et interview med The Telegraph
"I think what we're trying to do is to portray qualities of the various games we had on show. And I think it is difficult when you have a clip of four or five minutes to synthesise a gameplay experience that can be measured in the tens of hours. And, again, the studio was seeking to portray a game that will be rated as suitable for adults to play and that's what we did."
Da Ryan blev spurgt om hvorvidt det er korrekt at vise sådanne scener, svarede han:
"I do. Yeah, I do", after he concludes the interview: "Again, we have a range of experiences. And that game will be there to be enjoyed by adults."
