"Submerged is an open-world exploration game. You play as a fourteen-year-old girl, Miku, who's been stranded in a submerged city with her little brother, and it's her job to save him, to save his life and find supplies and nurse him back to health."
"We actually started off with more of a traditional survival game with a design with enemies and combat and items and crafting, and those sort of things. But when we first started making our mechanics for climbing and the boat for exploring the city, we started to build this city and we had people test the game and they just loved the exploring part.
"They loved scaling the buildings and searching for secrets, and we actually created this serene, relaxing experience that we didn't actually realise that we were making. That was the thing that really caught everyone's attention, what they talked about after playing the game, that's all they talked about. So we basically changed the direction of the game to focus on what was really great about it. So it was very organic."
