Efter mange års udvikling udkom Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom endelig i slutningen af sidste måned, og de globale salgstal lader til at indikere, at spillet har solgt ganske fortrinligt indtil videre. Der er dog ét marked hvor spillet ikke lader til at slå igennem lige så meget, og det er i hjemlandet Japan, og det er simpelthen fordi at spillet er blevet designet til et vestlige publikum.
Level-5-chefen Akihiro Hino har nemlig sagt følgende til Siliconera:
"At first, Ni no Kuni II was being developed for overseas, and there was a time where we hesitated on whether we should release a Japanese version. Ultimately we ended up making a Japanese version with high motivation."
"However, entertainment is all about making things for those who say they really like something and give you money for it. The previous title received many awards overseas, and we decided to narrow down the target [for the overseas audience] and that's why we made its title romanized."
