Yooka-Laylee collectibles hænger sammen, vil ikke blive kedelig

For ganske nyligt fik vi os en snak med Art Director Steve Mayles og Composer Grant Kirkhope for at høre, hvordan det stod til med deres Kickstarter-sensation, Yooka-Laylee.

Talenterne, der arbejder på Yooka-Laylee, har tidligeret stået bag klassikere såsom Banjo-Kazooie og Donkey Kong Country. Men Yooka-Laylee vil langt fra bare være genbrug af gamle koncepter, forklarer Kirkhope:

"We're trying to bring all the nice tickley, warm bits from Banjo-Kazooie and those kinds of games and bring it up to date, we want to get the spirit of those kinds of games, but also add new stuff."

De to talte også om elementet af collectibles i 3D-platformere, og hvordan de har i tankerne, at de vil håndtere disse i Yooka-Laylee:

"With DK64 we kind of learnt our lesson a little bit, so we think we know the right balance of collectibles. Plus the fact we're trying to make it so you're collecting them for a proper reason, like it's not just a reason to get a number of things, they do something special. They are all really tied to a certain thing, so we think it's less tedious and more rewarding and fun."
